When I received an e-mail earlier this year from Jill inquiring about family portraits on their own personal Christmas tree farm, I nearly fell out of my chair. Every photographer always dreams about photographing at a Christmas tree farm. It’s part of being a photographer. You have a camera, you press the shutter button, you want to shoot at a Christmas tree farm. So, of course, we got things scheduled and a few months later, we made this request a reality!
Jason, Jill, and their two children were some of the best! Driving out to their property east of Lafayette made me wonder if I was in the right location but I was soon reassured when I saw the beautiful giant pine trees that are what remain from a once family run Christmas tree farm!
The weather was perfect that day for portraits and so between juggling the children, sometimes literally, we had such a lovely time!
One thing I try to capture during my family portrait sessions is one on one interaction with one another. That means quality time—that means snuggles, kisses, and hugs. That means not everyone is being occupied by the photographer at that exact moment. Thankfully, Jill and Jason have two excellently behaved children and while I took mom and dad aside for some fun portraits with them, Kiera and her brother just chilled in the grass!
Jill shared with me that she and Jason met at Creighton University over a decade ago and were introduced because they were both from Lafayette, Indiana! Jill said that she loved Jason’s resolution, determination, and leadership and loves supporting his dreams and goals. She also shared that her favorite thing about being a parent to these two beautiful littles is seeing the total love and adoration that they always have on their faces! In the future, this family plans on building a custom home on their beautiful property and renting out their very fun current home as an AirBnB!
Jill and Jase will be joining the New Adventure Production crew again in October as I’ll be hosting my Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Fall Mini Portrait Sessions on their property! If you’re interested in getting one of the few spots left, here’s a link!
Thank you, Jill and Jason for inviting me out and being so wonderful and accommodating! I cannot wait to see your future dreams come true! See you in a few weeks!
