High school sweethearts are some of my favorites to photography. They have known each other for a lifetime and they still have an entire lifetime to get to know one another after they say “I do.” This couple has spent the last few years together, growing, evolving, and loving. I met Savannah and Tom after photographing a lovely senior portraits session earlier this year. I met with Savannah and Tom at a local coffee shop and I knew we were going to have a lot of fun. They have such an eclectic taste mixed with a very relaxed demeanor. It was very enjoyable to meet with them and I knew that their wedding was going to be spectacular. We had absolutely perfect weather on their special day and while they promised forever at Columbian Park, we celebrated their Halloween-esque reception at the beautiful Duncan Hall in Lafayette, Indiana.
Savannah and Tom are unusual, in the most excellent way possible. Their taste for the nontraditional really helped this wedding feel like theirs, complete with spooky black glitter trees, a crow’s skull necklace, a meteorite wedding ring, and halloween masks. Savannah, surrounded by her best friends and amazing grandmother prepped offsite before heading down to the park before the wedding. Tom and the boys spent their time off site as well and while I didn’t get to spend much time with them before the ceremony, you could still certainly see all of the camaraderie and fun they were having.
Savannah and Tom were married by Tom’s grandfather and while they joined together unity candles, which were more stubborn than most, but thankfully (mostly) kept lit by Tom’s parents and Savannah’s family. After it all, they were joined by their close family members and wedding party for portraits and then some fun portraits around the park.
At the reception, Savannah and Tom served up an amazing and super tasty drip beef sandwiches and danced the night away only stealing away a few times to create some of the most memorable and fun Halloween-inspired wedding portraits where Savannah was chased by Tom/Jason Vorhees complete with a machete down the road.
We also got to celebrate their send off with both bubbles and glow sticks which made for two exciting and different exit photos.
So without further ado, please enjoy this amazing and Halloween-inspired wedding!
