Big Sur is one of my favorite stops on Highway 1 in California for many reasons. Mainly, it's because there's a space for everyone to enjoy without being overly crowded.

Big Sur has such a variety of wedding options including more formal choices with venues. However, if you want a more low-key, low cost option, we can look at outdoor locations on the coast.

Big Sur is just a few hours drive to Yosemite, Sequoia, Napa Valley, and Malibu. All of these spaces are perfect locations for honeymoon adventures post-nuptials.
I love that Big Sur is also close enough to smaller airports that still cater to larger cities. For instance, you can skip flying into San Francisco (SFO) and get a flight to Monterey instead, saving over 2 hours of driving.
Rather go south afterward? No problem, Los Angeles is 5 hours south and Joshua Tree National Park is 9 away.

Big Sur is home to Carmel by the Sea. This location is pretty rich in my opinion. But that doesn't mean that only the ultra elite can afford to elope in Big Sur. No, there are far more affordable options just slightly inland from Big Sur.
Consider staying in Monterey, Moss Landing, or Salinas to save a few dollars and to maximize your stay costs.
Wanna splurge? Carmel by the Sea is home to a Michelin star restaurant, Aubergine, which boasts a prix fixe menu delectable food options.

A lot of people get concerned when they think of eloping and that it requires you to be in the middle of nowhere. In fact, Big Sur is smack down in between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a perfect compromise.
And while Big Sur only hosts 2000 people living there full time annually, there are still plenty of accessible amenities to tantalize all travelers tastes, preferences, and styles.
