Life is a funny thing, isn’t it? We go through it, loved by our family, loved by ourfriends but until we meet that one person that we are meant to spend our lives together with–we are alone. Spencer and Jen met in college through a dating app that was set up by their college. From date one, it was a success and now here we are–years later celebrating their engagement to be married.
Our story here begins with us meeting at work. I have worked with Jen for a little over a year now at my full-time job. She and Spencer were invited to our Christmas/Holiday party last year because Jen is cool–she’s got this chill vibe that you enjoy being around. There’s also a little sass in there and I feel that I’ve learned that we can attribute that to her Filipino background. Spencer, who was fairly quiet at our holiday party, later came to also work with us. He has an excellent disposition with our clients and he and Jen are low-key powerhouses. What I love about Spencer is that despite his first appearance at my house last Christmas, I’ve since learned that he is quite the opposite of quiet and very funny. Jen and Spencer are both quite hilarious in fact. Something that I thoroughly enjoy and relate to being someone who is fairly odd and outspoken with comedy and humor when appropriate and sometimes inappropriately.
Their engagement took place downtown Indy because they wanted a change from our midwestern scenery to a more urban approach. We ventured and found new places, tried out two beer places in which we enjoyed some of the best pumpkin beer from Schlafly (their pumpkin ale sold locally at Fresh Thyme). Afterward, we ventured down Mass Ave., down to another brewery, and then down alleyways and across cobblestone streets. Spencer and Jen work so well together. They love one another so much and their love and laughter filled Indianapolis that evening. We ate Indian food together, got overcharged, and adventured down by the canal for more silliness and fake-out and semi-threatened pushes into it from Jen.
Jen and Spencer’s wedding comes in mid May next year and I look so forward to meeting their family, seeing their lives become one, and to eat some delicious homemade foods from her family.
