I bet you didn’t know that you could have your cake and eat it too. Or in the case, have your wine and drink it while you’re having your engagement portraits done. For Kyla and Justin, this was the case and their Oliver Winery Engagement Session was absolutely perfect.
A Winery Engagement
Whenever I meet my couples, I spend time getting to know them. I want to be their “professional friend” because I believe that having a relationship will ultimately make their life easier. This is because they trust me and feel comfortable around me. Kyla and Justin reached out last fall about eloping in the Bonneville Salt Flats and of course I was on board. We spent almost two hours chatting about their elopement, getting to know one another, and dreaming up epic moments in Utah.
But what about the engagement session? Well, these two currently reside in Wisconsin and I live in Indiana. We discussed some icy winter engagement ideas up near Lake Geneva and the ice castles. We’d even talked of Lake Michigan and the southwest Michigan wineries like these two. We settled on Oliver Winery in Bloomington, Indiana since they have family nearby.
Oliver Winery, located in Bloomington, Indiana, is more than just ‘Soft Red, Soft Rose, and Soft White’ wines. It’s home to Bean Blossom Hard Cider, Creekbend Wine, the Pilot Project, and of course, Oliver’s signature wines. Kyla shared that this was her favorite winery ever and they had family not too far from the winery.
A Winter Engagement at Oliver Winery
Of course, in typical Indiana fashion, it rained when it should have been brisk and snowy. In fact, almost all the snow in Southern Indiana had been rained away and melted. So much for a wintery engagement shoot, it seemed as I drove down. Thankfully, with a little prayer and a little patience, the skies cleared. We were able to not only shoot indoors at the winery but also outdoors on their beautiful campus.
Oliver Winery is the perfect place to host your engagement session because the marketing team is so kind and sweet. They’re also super fast with responses and in less than 24 hours we got the green light.
You’ll be seeing these two again as they venture out to Utah this August. Their two day destination elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats at Little Sahara Sand Dunes will be so epic.
In the meantime, enjoy this treat of an engagement session at Oliver Winery.
