Sweet Revolution Bake Shop – Lafayette, Indiana Local Business Spotlight!

A few weeks back I reached out to the super talented Jonathan from Sweet Revolution Bake Shop near downtown Lafayette, Indiana. I originally met Jonathan and his mom, Debbie, at a bridal show last fall and spent two days getting to know them both (and their pastries). Let me tell you that these are the real deal! I’ve never had such delicious and elegant treats in my life. The heart and the love that this team puts into their sweets is only second to how warm and inviting they are as a business and as people.

When Felicia and I were married a few years back we opted for a wedding cake made by my best buddy’s mother (thanks, Joyce!) it was a delicious cake and there was nothing left when we came back from our honeymoon. But, I’m a pie fan and thankfully a super sweet friend of the family, Jenny, was thoughtful enough to make ME a groom’s pie. It blew my mind that I could have something other than cake on my wedding day—and that is why we are here.

I had the opportunity to not only interview Jonathan but also to go in, sample a few treats and photograph them. Little did I know that a few weeks before I met Jonathan and Debbie, I had photographed some treats from their shop during the Fowler House Styled Shoot — the treats, in fact, were used at Jonathan’s wedding the following day. So it has all come full circle.

If you’re in the mood for something sweet and want to support a local business, stop on down and pick up their amazing mini pies, quiches, or whatever you’re in the mood for! They have space inside to sit and enjoy and you’ll find them every week at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Lafayette!

At Sweet Revolution I’m very happy with our talented team that’s come together, Sarah our head pastry chef/co-owner is amazing with creating our signature pastry’s, Debbie co-owner who helps with marketing, special events and the book keeping, Jonathan co-owner he makes all the pie dough, marketing, and special events. Liz is our macaron Extraordinaire! We also hired on a few new great people we are excited to train in the front on house and back!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

It’s been almost 2 years we have had the store open, and 2 years before that at the farmers market.

WHAT TYPES OF PASTRIES DO YOU MAKE?

Our passion is pie! So many great things can be made from pie dough such as quiche, pot pies, galettes, and turnovers. We also specialize in macarons, cheese cake, and croissants.

WHAT ARE POPULAR ITEMS FOR A WEDDING DESSERT BARS?

Popular items at weddings can be macarons that match the theme of the wedding, mini Cheese cakes, having an 8 flourless chocolate torte, and it’s always fun to have pie at a wedding.

IF CLIENTS ARE CONSIDERING AN ALTERNATE APPROACH TO WEDDING CAKES, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

Many brides actually don’t like normal cake, and having the option to have a large delicious cheese cake as an option for a wedding cake is exciting, or even having a large pie to cut into then sharing with the family is a great experience.

DO YOU DELIVER AND HELP WITH SET UP?

We love helping set up at wedding and making sure the desert bar looks great!

WHAT TYPES OF THEMES HAVE YOU SEEN FOR 2019 AND BEYOND IN THE PASTRY WORLD?

Themes can be as big as the bride wants, but I feel like a simple display with great quality pastry’s is timeless, and just by the colors of the food can brighten a room.

WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THE FUTURE WITH SWEET REVOLUTION?

Sweet Revolutions future at this moment is to focus on training new staff and to stay consistent with our Quality is a huge and important goal for any new business. We wish to keep up with demand, and to keep challenging everyone’s taste buds with old fashion recipes with a modern twist!
