Let’s be honest. Would you move across the country for love? Court and Kevin did just that as their careers and lives evolved. Like countless others, I’ll tell you that I’m so grateful that they did make this work because soulmates, always make love work for them. Join Court and Kevin at their beautiful Gideon Owen Wine Company Wedding in Port Clinton, Ohio.
A Gideon Owen Wine Company Winter Wedding
This beautiful January wedding took place on a very mild winter morning. To be fair, I really figured it would be VERY cold, icy, and wintry. But apparently, when you’re on Lake Erie, their winters are very moderate and not icky. So it made for the perfectly pleasant day to be in and out of doors while we captured all these beautiful moments.
This Gideon Owen Wine Company Wedding was so perfect. The winery hosts not only a beautiful backdrop for wine making but also for hosting weddings and events. From the mid-century floating fireplace in their naturally lit bar to the onsite catering and perfect wines, a wedding at Gideon Owen Wine Company is the way to go.
Court and her wedding crew prepped in the onsite wedding space and it really made for an easy and beautiful morning moment. Megan, my partner photographer, was able to capture her prep and details inside the space while the ladies remained indoors. While half the wedding party prepped onsite, Kevin and his fellas were offsite at Court’s parents home, located just a few moments away. And conveniently right on an inlet for the lake. This space was perfect for groom prep portraits and he and crew were game for fun, some silliness, and a lot of great support.
Our first look took place just outside Gideon Owen Wine Company and to be totally transparent, it was one of the most emotional I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing. During our first looks, we work to keep some distance to maintain that bubble of intimacy. This first look included some tears of joy and a lot of hugs.
Afterward, they greeted everyone present and we transitioned into full group portraits working inside and out as it was a bit chilly. (I mean, it was January).
One of the most unique parts of this Gideon Owen Wine Company wedding was that the couple has the choice to get married in the wine cellar. Now, you know I’m a fan of natural light and bright spaces. This wine cellar was one of the most unique and cool spaces we’ve shot in. Since it’s not a super giant space, I actually got placed up front behind the wedding party and this gave me a unique perspective I’ve never truly had prior to this wedding.
Getting to witness and be so close to the couple, capturing their facial expressions, the ring exchange, and even the emotions coming from Court’s father gave me such a great sense of the real depth of their love and how their relationship has joined together two amazing families.
Dinner was wonderful, the wine was superb, and the wedding speeches were some of the caring, thoughtful and memorable. Special mention goes to Kevin’s brother, the best man, who gave the most hilarious AND tasteful wedding speech that ended in such love.
Toward the end of our coverage, we were able to take a moment to escape outdoors for one more portrait moment in the dark. It was a lot of fun because we got to do some light painting which I haven’t had the pleasure of doing in years. After we rejoined the rest of the crew inside this Gideon Owen Wine Company wedding, my lenses began fogging up. Instead of scrambling for a new lens, I used it to create some unique and artistic dancing portraits.
This couple has been such a joy and their wedding was just a perfect moment.
I wish Court and Kevin all the best. I also want to thank all of their wonderful vendors.
