New Journey Farms – Lafayette, Indiana – A Styled Shoot at The Most Gorgeous Wedding Venue in Indiana

Small town living has a lot of perks. You grow up in a way that connects you to so many other amazing individuals. Growing up, I was involved in Cub Scouts, local school plays and talent shows, and because my dad owned his own business of landscape construction, I met a lot of small town companies and businesses. As my wife and I have settled into West Lafayette over nearly the past 5 years, we’ve had the opportunity to become integrated with various different organizations and as Felicia and I began our wedding vendor careers. Most recently, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting the owners of New Journey Farms in Lafayette, Indiana, Robin and Mike.

I was first introduced to New Journey Farms in Lafayette, Indiana and its owners, Mike and Robin in November 2019. Fellow wedding vendor and transportation extraordinaire, Nate Lamar of Loaded Transportation had set up a meeting with Robin and Mike to meet one another officially and to create a referral opportunity for both parties. I came along too after Nate invited me out and we met at the venue.

New Journey Farms stands back from 800 East, quite a ways to prevent noise and to allow for growth of the venue in the future. Different from many of the local venues in town, New Journey Farms has created the most beautiful space to create an event any way you want. With ample and overflow parking for 400 to 700 people there truly is nothing else like it locally. Upon entering, New Journey Farms, you’re greeted with high ceilings painted and insulated with white to reduce noise and to allow as much brightness and natural light in as possible. There is even a recessed ceiling point filled with even more windows to allow the perfect amount of diffused white light fill the space from top to bottom. On your left, you’ll be immediately greeted with a bar, complete with a refrigerator and a kegerator for all your keg needs. The bar is open to inside but also has a window that slides open to allow for service outdoors as well on the front veranda. New Journey Farms also has a kitchen prep space with refrigeration and an ice machine for catering and bar services.

In the main interior space, seating for up to nearly 400 is available with standing room for 700. There are large accessible and stylishly decorated restrooms down the hallway, a large projector screen and projector available, and ample space outdoors underneath a large awning perfect for an intimate cocktail hour between a wedding ceremony and reception.

New Journey Farms in Lafayette, Indiana wouldn’t live up to the name farm if it didn’t include some sort of outdoor ceremony space. Thankfully, Robin and Mike thought of it all and included the perfect ceremony space with a wooden pergola, concrete pathway, and even electrical outlets hidden on the backside of the pergola space for DJs and officiants to be properly amplified.

Upstairs past the grand staircase that is split for the perfect Hollywood grand entrance, are two preparation spaces, perfectly decorated and adorned with wifi, hooks for dresses, suits, and all of the other needed garments, a shuffleboard table in the groom’s suite, as well as private restrooms in each space. The bridal suite has two windows, a coffee machine, large circular art deco mirrors that shape the space into a chic, slightly rustic but modern space. Underneath the countertop and preparation space area are plug ins for hair dryers, straighteners, and phone chargers for all that Snapchat wedding day perfection.

After speaking with Mike and Robin, touring the space, and hearing all their future plans for growth and expansion, I knew that I wanted to help them and to align myself with what I consider to be the most beautiful venue in the county. So I asked, “what can I do to help you grow?” It was a simple question that led us to today and what I hope will be an amazing future collaboration together. Marketing and brand awareness are two things that New Journey Farms needs and since I’m a photographer, I decided to set up a styled shoot.

A styled shoot is a faux-wedding.

It showcases what the venue and other local vendors have to offer prospective clients. It doesn’t involve guests, but does include a couple usually. We put together a list of vendors that we have both worked with in the past and who have always served their clients well. We assembled a team of amazing and talented vendors with hearts for service and a vision that would match the aesthetic and brand of New Journey Farms. Each vendor was asked to showcase their perfect wedding sale. We wanted to keep things open ended in a sense of allowing everyone to do what they do best instead of restricting them through a theme. Onsite wedding event design creator, Sarah, worked with florals and invitations to find a theme that meshed perfectly with any time of year and was inviting to future couples.

From hair and makeup, to our DJ, photobooth, and even our wonderful invitations–everything was perfect and I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone coming together to support this amazing space. Thank you all for everything that you’ve done and I cannot wait to work with you all again and to share your talents with the world. Marie, Shelby, Lupe, Melissa Sarah, David, Mackenzie, Cari, Kaylynn, Nate, Jonathan, and the entire Above All Catering — you all are so talented and we are so grateful for you!

A huge thank you to Robin and Mike for creating such an amazing space that allows couples to have their perfect wedding day in the exact way that they always imagined it!

New Journey Farms will be at the 2020 Midwest Bridal Affair at Four Points by  Sheraton in West Lafayette January 18-19, 2020. Stop in and see them, say hello, and book a tour of their perfect space!
