A solid and long lasting relationship is based in love and trust. But love and trust aren’t always just built through infatuation, but also through friendship. Seven years ago, Devyn, and Whitney became friends through some mutual friends and now, they are planning their wedding for next June. This beautiful St. Joseph, Michigan beach engagement session was exactly what made this Sunday in September so lovely.
Whitney and Devyn live in small town in central Indiana. While they had known of one another for years in high school, it wasn’t until later that they came to really see one another. At a friend’s party, they became friends and over the past 5 years, they ran across one another more and more. Finally, about 2 years ago, Devyn asked Whitney to go out with him and the rest is history.
Their engagement took place in Wabash, Indiana at a beautiful historical manor this February. Even though it was cold and snowy, much like many days in February, it was filled with the excitement and love of a future together. Devyn proposed with one knee in the snow and Devyn, Whitney, and Whitney’s son all celebrated together.
Our trip to southwest Michigan was filled with lots of laughter, some wine, and a little chilly dancing in the cool waters of Lake Michigan. We began our engagement session at Hickory Creek Winery in Buchanan, Michigan. After we shared in some wine, they took turns swinging one another on the tire swing, walking hand in hand down the lane, and enjoying the perfectly Fall afternoon.
We left for the beach around 5:30PM and arrived at my favorite spot in St. Joseph, Michigan at Tiscornia Park. You may remember this park from some past engagement sessions, but it truly is a beautiful place. With the St. Joseph lighthouse in the background and truly Fall-esque sky, they danced and laughed and kissed, and made all sorts of fun memories.
Afterward, I treated the lovely couple to pizza at my favorite pizza place, Silver Beach Pizza.
Friendship. The foundation of many good things, including my new friendship with Devyn and Whitney, and also the cornerstone of their coming marriage.
Thank you, Whitney and Devyn, for saying yes to adventure and for creating some fun new memories together!
